Marcus Peters: Practicing against crazy unique offense makes Rams D better
The Rams offense led the league in scoring last season and that helped the team win the NFC West on their way to the playoffs for the first time since 2004.
That offense added wide receiver Brandin Cooks after Sammy Watkins left as a free agent, but the main focus for the Rams this offseason has been on defense. They’ve added defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and cornerbacks Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters, which leaves them with work to do when it comes to integrating all the pieces this offseason.
Peters said on Tuesday that the defense’s efforts to gel are being helped by facing the strong offense put together by head coach Sean McVay in practice.
Washington, which essentially created the ambassador position in the early 2000s, began hiring groups of women who didn’t make the cheerleading team and were judged in pageant-like sessions, according to the newspaper. Former Redskins cheerleaders told the Times they felt more like a sexualized saleswoman than a cheerleader.
Another former Redskins ambassador said she would attend tailgate parties where intoxicated men would grab the cheerleaders, hug them and make lewd comments.
It was like, oh, yuck, the former ambassador said, adding that she would often sign autographs as Meg because she didn’t want others to know her real name. I didn’t want to take the extra time to sign my real name. I was just like, God, can we just get this over with?
According to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, tight end Jake McGee suffered what is believed to be a torn Achilles.
McGee was on the team’s practice squad last year. He has also spent time with the Chargers, Raiders, and Panthers.
We liked his toughness, Bowles said of Crowell. We liked the way he can slash through and cut. He is a tough runner. We think he is a pound-it back as well as having some versatile, lateral movement that can play out on the edge a little bit, and we thought he would be a great younger-leg type of Forte utility guy coming in. Maybe not the receiver that Forte is to a certain degree, but from a running-the-ball standpoint. We thought he helped in the backfield from a toughness standpoint.
Before deciding to sign with the Jets, he checked in with former teammates Josh McCown and Buster Skrine, who both came from Cleveland before landing with the Jets. He heard good reviews and said he is enjoying his time with the team so far.
I like the system they have, Crowell said. I like everything. I feel like it’s a good place to be. I just felt really good about it.
